Evening for Educators is an annual event sponsored by Dixie State University and the DSU Sears Art Museum. One of the longest-running programs of the State Wide Art Partnership (SWAP) is the Evening for Educators series. This professional development program is made available by the Professional Outreach Programs in the Schools (POPS) with funding from the Utah State Legislature through the Utah State Board of Education. The Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts Leaning Program also supports the DSU event. These events are held on average once a month during the academic year, at locations across the state of Utah. The event at Dixie State University is held in February as part of the Dixie in the Sun event. Participating teachers attend several classes to introduce new ideas for their classrooms. Teachers may receive in-service credit for attending these events. Each Evening for Educators provides networking opportunities and features a keynote speaker and hands-on workshops designed to help teachers integrate the night’s theme into their curriculum.

At each Evening for Educators event, lesson plan packets containing digital images and curriculum developed by professional educators are available. Additional free educational materials may also be provided.

The Evenings for Educators program is an excellent way to receive professional development USOE credits. Each Evening for Educators is worth 3 licensure renewal points. In addition, by attending 5 Evenings for Educators and implementing one field test, participants will receive one USOE semester credit.

Meet and network with teachers from all over Utah. Evenings for Educators allows for teachers to share experiences and learn from their peers. This is a wonderful opportunity for Utah educators to connect and share with colleagues. Light refreshments will be served.
